Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the womb, most commonly on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic lining. This tissue responds to hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle, which can lead to inflammation, scarring, and pain. Common symptoms include painful periods, chronic pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, heavy bleeding, fatigue, and in some cases difficulty falling pregnant. The severity of symptoms does not always match the extent of disease, and some people may have significant endometriosis with minimal symptoms, while others experience severe pain with mild disease.
